Salvage
Most of the frame of Wd 356 has been recovered from a salvage site near Pahiatua. This includes the bar frame, cylinders, cross-heads, driving wheels and a complete front truck. Plate frame extension and rear bogie are missing.
A photograph that clearly shows Wd 356 has yet to be located. Of the many photographs of Wd class hauling trains in the Wellington suburban area one must Wd 356 must surely be represented.
